What is Cefoxitin sodium?

Cefoxitin sodium (MK-306) is a cephamycin antibiotic, often grouped with the second generation cephalosporins, acts by interfering with cell wall synthesis, its activity spectrum includes a broad range of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.

The product is a semi synthetic second generation cephalosporin, characterized by strong antibacterial effect on Gram-negative bacteria and highly resistant to beta lactamase. The antimicrobial spectrum includes Escherichia coli, pneumoniae, indole positive Proteus, Serratia, Klebsiella, influenza, Salmonella, Shigella, etc. It also has a good effect on Staphylococcus and a variety of Streptococcus.

It is mainly used for respiratory tract infections, endocarditis, peritonitis, pyelonephritis, urinary tract infection, septicemia and bone, joint, skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

It is a kind of organic synthetic raw material, it can be applied in making of pharmacy, pesticide and dyestuff etc. It can be used to make P-Chlorobenzyl cyanide, intermediate to fenvalerate, and intermediates to organic synthetic dyestuff and pharmacy etc.
